Anxiety Disorders Support Group - FIRST and THIRD Wednesday of the Month at 6:30 pm
About 2.8 % of the adult US population has Generalized Anxiety Disorder during the course of a given year. 2 to 5 % of Americans have life long struggles with Panic Disorders characterized by increased anxiety and avoidant behavior. The prevalence of violence in today’s society has resulted in an increased number of people who suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Studies suggest that between 2 and 9 % of the United State’s population has some degree of PTSD.

The NAMI Dane County Anxiety Disorders Support Group will meet the first and third Wednesday of the Month at 6:30 pm. The group will meet at the United Way Building. Persons experiencing an Anxiety Disorder and concerned family members and friends are invited to participate in dealing with the struggles involved in coping with Anxiety Disorders.

60 % of all Americans will at some time in their lives experience a serious mental illness. NAMI Dane County is involved in providing education and support through the many educational programs offered throughout the year. Family to Family, and Hand to Hand for parents of children with mental illness are offered several times a year. Check The Pioneer or our web-site (www.namidanecounty.org) for current classes available. Contact the NAMI office for upcoming classes.

NAMI Dane County is also pleased to provide ongoing support groups to give people an opportunity to share concerns and coping skills in dealing with mental illness. All groups are free of charge. No registration is required. The groups are confidential and participants are invited to share or observe. NAMI support groups are facilitated by trained individuals who have had experience in dealing with mental illness and want to “give back” to others.
