UW law students offer free criminal defense services to indigent persons facing criminal charges or probation revocation in Dane County. The students work under the supervision of the director, who is an attorney and Law School professor, and three other attorneys. Persons seeking representation must apply through the State Public Defender's office or federal court rather than by direct contact with the organization.

VBB helps returning prisoners successfully re-enter the community and participate fully in civic life.
