Bridging Hearts and Minds

Bridging Hearts and Minds is an eight-week skills building workshop that uses mindfulness to enhance overall mental health and well-being. The objective of this program is to help those with anxiety/depression reduce stress and develop healthy coping skills. Examples of skills participants learn include body scanning, sitting meditation, walking meditation, breathing exercises and loving kindness.

The next course, taught by licensed mental health professionals, is scheduled to take place from October 18th to December 8th, every Wednesday from 6:15-8:15pm. It will be a two hour mindfulness and meditation workshop and will meet at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Please fill out and submit an H&M interest form to sign up.

Thank you to our partners at SSM Health for funding this program!

WHAT PARTICIPANTS ARE SAYING

This class has helped me to get out of bed and start moving in the morning. It’s given me purpose!
I really liked being in a group where everyone had a mood disorder. This was my first experience in that and it was very empowering.
This is very significant education, helping us to regain control over our endlessly churning minds and re-grounding ourselves in the present through breath, recognizing mind/body feelings, action, and stress signals. There is HOPE!
I’m grateful to NAMI for offering this class for free as I wouldn’t be able to afford paying for a class. I’ve learned so much. Thank you!
What was most helpful was the scope of different practices introduced and information about the benefits of each. I also appreciated knowing how and when to apply these practices to specific anxieties and situations.
I can deal with my emotions better (especially my anxiety) and I can recognize my negative thoughts better and the thought patterns that are causing them.
