Comprehensive Community Services: Your Vision, Your Plan, Your Recovery

Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) is a voluntary, community-based program for individuals of all ages diagnosed with a mental health and/or substance abuse condition. The CCS program provides psychosocial rehabilitation services to assist participants with learning the skills necessary to be able to achieve their highest possible level of independent functioning, stability, and independence and to facilitate recovery. Each participant works with a service facilitator (case manager) to develop an individualized recovery plan that includes all of the services that will be provided to facilitate recovery. In addition to case management, services offered through the CCS program include: medication management, individual skill development, physical health monitoring, peer support, psychotherapy, substance abuse treatment, and employment related skill training.
To be eligible to participate in the Dane County CCS Program, an individual must be a Dane County resident, have Medical Assistance/Medicaid insurance, and have difficulty in one or more major life activities. In addition, individuals must have a current physician’s prescription for CCS services.
If you or a loved one are interested in participating in the CCS Program, the first step is for the interested participant or parent/guardian to contact the CCS Intake Unit at Dane County Department of Human Services. The Intake Worker will explain the steps to apply for CCS and options for services available.

NAMI Dane County Executive Director, Lindsay Wallace, is an active participant on the Dane County CCS Coordination Committee. This committee advises and assists Dane County staff in developing and implementing quality improvement plans, updating CCS policies, and undertaking other activities aimed at ensuring the overall quality of CCS services. The CCS Coordination Committee consists of consumers, family members, advocates, CCS service providers, and Dane County staff.
Current projects of the CCS Coordination Committee include: creating a survey to ensure that the attitudes and practices of CCS service providers are consistent with the philosophy of the CCS program, examining the reasons for discharge from the CCS program, and providing feedback on an updated assessment document.
