Board Leadership

NAMI Dane County is governed by an active 12-member volunteer Board of Directors that includes people living with mental illness, family members, mental health professionals, business professionals, and educators. The board is responsible for setting the budget and priorities of NAMI Dane County as well as developing the organization’s strategic plan.

We are currently seeking board members who are committed to the mission of NAMI Dane County: to support, educate and advocate for individuals impacted by mental illness. What are we looking for? We encourage you to apply for the NAMI Dane County Board of Directors if you fit within one of the following categories:

  • Current or past volunteer with NAMI Dane County

  • Individual with lived experience of mental illness

  • Family member or direct/front-line support of someone with a mental illness

  • Mental health professional

We are especially interested in recruiting board members with expertise or strengths in any of the following areas:

  • Advocacy

  • Marketing/Public Relations

  • Strategic Leadership & Planning

  • Fundraising & Development

  • Law Enforcement or First Responder

Members from underrepresented groups (e.g. BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, veterans) are especially encouraged to apply. We also want to extend an invitation to individuals from our expansion counties - Sauk, Columbia, and Richland counties.

*You do not need to be a Dane County resident to serve on our Board of Directors
